Wamū

A privacy-first budgeting journal

Post an expense the way you'd post an update — no categories to design up front, no accounts to configure, no bank to link. Structure comes later, only if you want it. Your money, on your device.

Wamū is free during this initial phase. Optional paid plans may come later, with clear notice before anything requires payment.

What Wamū does

Capture first, no setup required

Open Wamū and post your first expense immediately — “Spent 500 cash” saves just fine. No categories to design, no accounts to configure, no bank to link.

Incomplete is valid

An entry with no category or account is a real, saved entry. It still counts against the month, and you can fill in details later in review — capture is never blocked.

Structure when you want it

Optional categories and monthly budgets reclassify what you've already captured instead of gating it. Track spent, remaining, and over-budget per category.

Local-first, sync optional

Everything is stored on your device and works offline. Private iCloud sync is off by default and opt-in per device — no Wamū account, no Wamū backend.

Budgeting that starts with writing things down

The failure mode of strict budgeting apps is the app blocking you on structure you don't have yet. Wamū flips it: capture first, structure later — so your data ends up more complete, not less.

No setup tax

Stop designing a taxonomy of your life before logging a single peso. Start with plain words; add structure only when it earns its keep.

Nothing dropped on the floor

An expense you didn't log because you couldn't classify it is simply gone. In Wamū, the ambiguous entry still exists and still counts.

Budgets without the lecture

Wamū is not a replacement for real budgeting — budgets and categories still matter. They just belong after capture, not before it.

Private by default

Parsing runs on-device. Nothing is sent to an external AI service automatically, and sync only touches your own private iCloud account when you opt in.
